NEW !
New Version 2.8.6.0 will now try to configure your router / gateway using UPnP AND also attempt to auto-configure your firewall (with your approval of course). If the process fails, you can use the information below to configure your firewall & router manually.
ABOUT FIREWALLs & ROUTERs
Firewall/Router Configuration?
When you have a firewall or router, it blocks traffic from the internet. PornDigger! needs to communicate with the internet and the firewall or router may block all or some of these communications unless it is configured on your end.
Below are hints & instructions that will help you configuring your firewall and/or router, read on.
How do I know if I am behind a Router of Firewall ?
First things first ... Your IP address is in the title (top left) of the PornDigger program (when the program is open) and reads within the brackets (i.e. [24.100.100.100 ~ 192.168.001.101] ). If both addresses (the left xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, and the right ~ xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx) are different, then you are either behind a router or a firewall. Read below on how to configure it.

Finding the information you need to access your Router ?
Follow these steps:
- Open the start menu and select 'Run...', a dialog box will appear.
In that box, enter cmd and click on OK. (On Windows 95, 98 and Me, enter command instead, or winipcfg.)
- A Command window will appear. In that box, enter the command ipconfig (and press Enter) .
- Several groups of lines will be printed on the screen, one group for each device capable of using an internet protocol. C:\WINDOWS>ipconfig
Windows IP Configuration
0 Ethernet adapter :
IP Address: 192.168.1.101 <-- YOUR computer
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1 <-- YOUR router (or Gateway)
- Write down the two IP addresses you need. The first one is the IP address of your computer and the third one is the IP address of your gateway (or router).
- If you have a router, then your gateway is your router and the gateway's IP is the router's IP. Both of the IPs are likely to start with the same number. Now check if they start either with 10.x.x.x or with 192.168.x.x or with 169.254.x.x.x or with something between 172.16.x.x and 172.31.x.x. If your IPs start with anything that matches those patterns, then you do have a router. If the IP you have do not match any of the patterns, then you don't have a router.
I DO have a router, now how do I configure it ?
The two most common manufacturers of routers are Linksys and D-Link, both have extensive online documentation and how-to documents for configurating your router. Click one of the links below for a guide on how to configure different routers. (These are off-site guides, and are non-PornDigger specific).
REMEMBER: The information you need to know, is that PornDigger (by default) is using PORT 10000 ( TCP ) to listen for incoming connections (connections from other clients trying to reach you). Therefore, you must configure your router to forward all request to that PORT (port 10000 TCP) to your local computer's IP address (on the same 10000 PORT).
Other very usefull Non-PornDigger! guides:
NOTE: If you are using a computer on a local area network (office, school or college dorm)
If you are using a computer on a local area network (which is commonly the case in an office, school or college dorm), then it is likely you will not have access to the router in order to configure it. In this case, you may wish to talk to the network administrator and ask them to configure it for you. In the likely event of the network administrator declining to open ports for you, perhaps because of policies to limit the amount of p2p traffic on their networks, or for security reasons, there is really nothing further you can try, but to install on another machine that is not connected to a router.

How to get it configured to Work under Windows XP Service Pack2 ?
If you see only very few (or none) diggers online, or your experience seems degraded while transfering files and you don't have any other firewalls blocking access, this may be because of the Windows XP firewall. To keep the firewall on, but allow PornDigger! to work properly (also called port forwarding), follow these steps:
- Go to the Start menu, click on Control Panel.
- In Classic View, go to the Windows Firewall icon [Bottom-right hand corner]. Double click it.
- When a dialogue box pops up, make sure the On (recommended) radio button is selected. Then make sure that the "Dont' Allow exceptions" check box is unchecked.
- Go to the Exceptions tab, and press the Button "Add Program" and select PornDigger!, if it doesn't show up on the list, browse for it; you'll most likely find it under "C:\Program Files\PornDigger!\PornDigger.exe"
- Press OK
- Next, we have to open port 10000 for PornDigger! to communicate through. Click the Add Port button and type in PornDigger for the name and put in 10000 for the port. Select TCP. Note that if you choose to use a port other than 10000 in the PornDigger settings (PornDigger Options-->Advanced Options-->Select another port...: PORT), you should be configuring the firewall for this port.
- Press OK.
- In the Change Scope dialogue box, select Any Computer
- Reconnect to the PornDigger Network.
Hopefully these steps solve your problems.

If you have successfully configured your router (or firewall), you should now see alot more diggers.
Hope to see you online soon.
